Question: Why did Companies in the not so distant past get criticized for big and elaborate corporate events, but it seems very much so now it that this is what people expect and love to be dazzled. What’s the reason for this?
Answer: Most Live events in general, whither it is the bigger corporate event or an individual consumer-based experience have moved on, times have changed because of the expectation of their ever evolving audience. The expectations are so much more advanced in today’s market, mainly because technology is more sophisticated. Retaining any audience’s attention span is now one of the biggest challenges that faces the industry today.
Question: Are you telling me not to even bother with the old laser pointer presentations and being force-fed free pens and bumper stickers at the end?
Answer: That is exactly what I am saying, the general school of thought is that people will not tolerate this type of presentation any more. The workforce spend more than their fair of time being bombarded with information given to them in a formal fashion. With any entertainment agency that has aged through the years will tell you, it became more common place to have a brief entertainment show at the end of a 2 hour information barrage. Now people are looking towards the artistic agencies and the show agencies for much more of an experience, in a more informal setting that can marry together the concept of information and entertainment.
Question: Are there some things that the owners of small companies should keep in mind when going to an event planner to put on their corporate event?
Answer: The very first and foremost thing is to be very clear and concise with the message you want to put across. This refers to the good old days of story-telling. What sort of objective are you looking to achieve? If you’re are telling a story during you’re corporate event, what do you want to put across? Your timing is very important, and could be the difference between going for a circus act with snakes or an artistic agency painter to put across an important point in a visual manner.Spend some time looking at your event as a whole and coming to a decision as to when and where to tell a different aspect of the story story. Last but not least would be to look at the role food plays, as many corporate events nowadays not only provide their fantastic entertainment, but they provide fantastic food which also provides a social aspect to the event.
Once you have worked out the fine detail with your event planner, the time has come for you to sit back and relax while your event comes to life. You can also expect as long as you have taken everything into account that not only will you get your key points across, but you will have increased morale, business or brand status and made a few more friends in the process.
