Lisvet Barcia Cabrera is a distinguished dancer, performer, choreographer, pole dancer, and aerial spiral artist with a specialization in Latin rhythms, contemporary dance, and Afro-Cuban folk dance. She began her formal training at the José María Heredia National School of Art in Santiago de Cuba, where she graduated as a dancer and instructor in Modern and Contemporary Dance and Afro-Cuban Folkloric Dance. She furthered her studies at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, where she earned a degree in Contemporary Dance.
Lisvet gained prominence as a principal dancer with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba, a role she held for seven years, before joining Danza Abierta, another leading Cuban company, as a principal dancer. Her career includes collaborations with renowned choreographers such as Eduardo Vallejo Pinto, Chevi Muraday, Carlos Acosta, and Rafael Bonachela, to name a few.
With a versatile background in musicals, circus, opera, and television, Lisvet has showcased her talent as a choreographer and performer in dance festivals with her original pieces, such as Rem, Espacio Interior, and Adverso. Her choreography Espacio Interior earned first prize at the Urban Landscapes Festival in Cuba, and she received the Luna Award for her performance in Carmina Burana with Danza Contemporánea de Cuba in Mexico. Currently, she is part of Eduardo Vallejo Pinto's Ogmia Company in Madrid, Spain, and has previously worked with acclaimed groups like Losdedae, Ballet Revolución, and Ballet Rakatan.
