About Romain Lalire

Romain is a pure artist who mixes magic, technology, photography and video to create what he calls the magical emotion: that loss of reference, that precise moment when reality slips into the unexpected.

For more than ten years, Romain has been travelling the world performing in theaters, events and contemporary art museums. He also develops photographic work, uses mapping and creates digital performances.

A semi-finalist in the French TV show "La France a 1 incroyable talent" on M6, he has collaborated with major high-end brands such as Hermès, Chanel and Apple, who have all fallen under the spell of this unique artist.

His digital magic, up close and on stage, is delicate, tailor-made, elegant and fascinating. A truly modern and lively work of art.

Show wow of a few minutes, he proposes several bases of shows that are evolutionary, modifiable and customizable such as Kumo, Lightstick, Kube, L'Envol, etc.

Credentials
First, physical images, with training in the art of mime at the Marcel Marceau International School of Mimodrama, where the question of the invisible and its materialisation were key areas of research.

Impossible images, then, thanks to magic, which has long been his main channel. He has used it for artists such as the KIT collective (Printemps de Septembre - Toulouse), Olivier Dollinger for "The missing viewer" or "Abstract Telling", in which he reinterpreted several works through the prism of magic and pantomime.

Numerous collaborations with theatres have also allowed him to explore other ways of producing images on stage. In the show "Baroque fantastique" by the company "Les Ombres", he worked on mapping with the projection of shadows on a set of sails. These shadows played with the musicians on stage, splitting into two and contributing to a loss of reference points.

He also created the visual effects for Alexis Michalik's "Cercle des illusionnistes", assisted Thierry Collet in the magical production of "Ombres blanches" by the Pernette company, or "Le préambule des étourdis" by Estelle Savasta, "Jamais Jamais" by the arpenteurs de l'invisible, or recently for "La ménagerie de verre" directed by Charlotte Rondelez.

He created performances that he presented in various contexts:

For example, he created the "Do Disturb" show at the Palais de Tokyo, but also at events for luxury brands (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Cartier, etc.).

In June 2019, he created the studio de l'imaginaire by integrating the Numeric Lab at the arts centre of Enghien-les-bains to continue the exploration of new writing, focusing his work on the digital.

Augmented reality, generative software, real-time programmes, mapping, sensory sensors... These are all fabulous tools that he now uses to better question reality and our relationship with images: the digital world, the multiplicity of media, our (over)consumption of media and the omnipresence of the internet.
