The "Bandierai degli Uffizi" are the official flag throwers of the city of Florence and since March 1973 they represent the city in an institutional way in every part of the world, through cultural, historical, sporting and entertainment events.
Furthermore, the "Bandierai degli Uffizi" are the flag throwers of the "Calcio Storico Fiorentino", a historical Florentine reenactment that dates back to 1530, in which 4 districts of Florence compete in a game with the ball, recognized as the forerunner of the modern game of football. We represent a precise historical period and an analytical reference by carrying, printed on our flags, the main Magistracies and Offices existing in the Florentine Republic of the sixteenth century.
In the course of our activity we have had the honor of being present at an opening ceremony of the World Cup in Mexico in 1986 and some matches of the World Cup in Spain and Italy, numerous matches of international rugby (Edinburgh, Rome, Florence), three Columbus Day celebrations in New York, Chicago and San Francisco, Italian Serie A soccer matches, Dolce & Gabbana fashion shows, Italian volleyball and basketball championship finals, boxing matches, Scuderia Ferrari #1000Gp, F1 Tuscany Gp and the new Formula-E and we also had the pleasure of being able to visit Japan, the United States, South America, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, Croatia, Switzerland, Scotland, Malta, Canada, Ukraine, Hungary, Austria.
The only Italian group to have a Post stamp dedicated to him from the Ministry of Economic Development, to have received the Italian representation medal from the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, to have restored the Marzocco statue in Piazza della Signoria and to institutionally represent Florence in the world.
All unique experiences that no other group has achieved in Italy, a sign of an importance recognized and affirmed by all those who esteem us and appreciate our business.
The group, made up of many elements, is always growing and is composed as follows:• Captain: Leads and arranges the group during performances and parades;• Alfiere: carries the banner of the Bandierai degli Uffizi;• Drummers: perform the rhythms of the step and of all the exercises;• Gonfalonieri of the Magistracies (red and blue clothes): they carry the flags of the 16 Magistracies;• Flag throwers (dressed in red and blue): the flags depicting the Red Lily, symbol of Florence.
The performances of the flag throwers vary from the single player (performed by a single component with several flags), the couple (two components that move in synchrony with two flags) the large and small teams performed by one part or the whole group at the same time.
